HUNTING IN NW KANSAS
Make Oakley (Logan County) your centrally located home-base for access to the abundance of wildlife in Northwest Kansas. In the heart of the western high plains of Kansas, the combination of native grass and varied farm crops including corn, milo, wheat and sunflowers makes this region an ideal habitat for ringnecked pheasant.
WHAT, WHERE & HOW
WHERE TO HUNT
The Walk-In Hunting Access (WIHA) program provides hunting access to private property, mostly for upland game bird hunting. Some areas have opportunities for deer, waterfowl and squirrel hunting as well. Contract dates run from September 1st or November 1st through January 31st. Areas are posted with WIHA signs. Currently there are more than 2 million acres in the WIHA program.

WHAT TO HUNT
Northwest Kansas offers a wide variety of species to hunt.
Game birds include; turkey, pheasant, bobwhite quail, and greater prairie chicken along with migratory dove. Small game animals include; jack rabbit and cottontail. Big game animals include; whitetail deer, mule deer, and antelope (pronghorn).

Pheasant Hunting Season: Second Saturday in November through January 31
Daily Limit: 4 Roosters
Game Bird License Fees: Resident $27.50 Non-resident $97.50 - Non-resident youth $42.50
